Name Translation July 10, 2006

My friend sent me a link on Japanese name translation. Rather fun. I tried various terms of my name. One of it is 石丸 Ishimaru (round stone) 美智子 Michiko (child of a thousand beauties), another is 千葉 Chiba (thousand feathers) 千秋 Chiaki (very fine in autumn) and finally 中島 Nakashima (center of the island) 千秋 Chiaki (very fine in autumn).

They look fine until you realise their meanings. Well, for the 1st one anyway. Round stone? I don’t like that. I wonder how the system works in a way that converts the words from English to Japanese.
