The days have been hot. Very hot. It’ll be very nice and cooling indeed if I had taken a swim in the pool. Now is the best time because the holidays are over and I can swim freely around without being squeezed for space. The pools are not Olympic sized so it’s crammed with all the kids in the pool.

Frankly speaking, I’m rotting melting at home. I’m trying to compile that inexplicably large project report that needs to contain 8,500 words. I wonder how the heck will I manage to do it. I’ve the information more or less to dump in but I can’t be caught doing plagiarism. So, how do I actually compile a report that will carry a passing mark, never mind that I won’t be able to achieve the honours classification?

It would be so much easier to get a job with the honours, I must admit. It is just a base line for the salary anyway. What matters most is that employment into some company actually means you either know the boss’ friend, relative, whoever-it-is to get an interview. Or you are a very at telling others about your strengths and weaknesses.

I have decided to take up tuition again. When I first started out, I was raw, I didn’t know how to engage the hyperactive kid’s attention on focusing the task at hand. I gave up tuition because I had a long journey to attend classes in poly and won’t be able to commit the tutoring. It was a pity though. Now, the parents are more demanding in wanting the tutors to have all As in O and A levels, a degree holder with either honours or merit, or must be familiar with P4, P5 syllabus in order to teach the EMS child. I see the familiarity with the syllabus as spoon feeding. Anyone disagree? However, that’s what the school teachers have to teach so the tutors have no choice but to follow. What happens to the child’s creative learning then?

Update: I found a tutor who wrote about choosing a qualified and reliable home tutor. 5 points have been noted in what a qualified tutor should have.

  1. the ability to teach a given student in the manner that the student can understand and pick up fast,
  2. the ability to communicate with the student effectively to find out the problem areas that the student may have with a subject or topic,
  3. the ability to stimulate the student’s mind to think,
  4. the ability to motivate the student to work hard, and
  5. the ability to show by example to the student on how to behave responsibly and morally.

Now I hope I have all the above to secure a student!
